Dear Customer Well, I saw some geese recently and I swear they were putting on weight. This surely must mean our very busiest period of the year is almost upon us. Our shelves are bursting with what seems to be our best collection of books ever and to enhance this, we have added a small but interesting collection of gifts and stocking-fillers including a range of 'Penguin Book' mugs, some jolly book-ends, quality wooden toys and quirky bookmarks. You can see our latest books and browse our new Chrismas Catalogue at: www.forestbookshop.com Doug McLean,
F W Harvey poetry back in print very soon. We are very pleased to announce that after a long absence, the Gloucestershire poet FW Harvey's 'Collected Poems 1912 - 1957' will be available in a new edition before Christmas. F W Harvey was a 'War Poet' a contemporary of Sasoon, Brooke, Owen and Gurney. His war poems however, were not so much about his experience the terrible horrors of the fron-line trenches, but about courage comfort and hope. His greatness was in his ability to find beauty in a world of sadness, conflict and trouble. For instance, from a crude drawing of ducks that a fellow prisoner had scrawled on his solitary confinement POW cell, came the inspiration from the wonderful and perhaps best known 'From troubles of the world I turn to ducks . . .' We aso hear that an F W Harvey appreciation society may be formed. For more information contact doug@forestbookshop.com
