The Dean Writers

Drawing inspiration from the film, The Blair Witch Project, a daring group of writers set out to explore the scary legends of the Forest of Dean. The last witch trial in Gloucestershire was held in the heart of the Forest, in 1906, which makes it the perfect setting for its very own Witch Project.

The intrepid writers travelled through the Forest, interviewing owners of pubs and haunted houses, discovering the spirits of its mysterious wells and pools, unearthing the legends of ancient standing stones, and the eerie industrial heritage of mines and mills. They visited haunted castles and churches, uncovered the ghosts of soldiers and murderers, and even old poets. They also researched more recent experiences - Big Cat sightings and encounters with wild boar, not to mention the ghostly goings on of a famous rock band recording an album in a Forest castle.
