In A Child in the Forest Winifred Foley told the story of her 1920's childhood in a mining village in the Forest of Dean. First published by the BBC, following readings from her hand-written manuscript on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, her now classic bestseller was dramatised for stage, radio and television and brought her national fame. Soon after, she was persuaded to write more reminiscences of those days, which resulted in this collection of wonderfully evocative cameos of 1920’s Forest of Dean family and community life.
